Death
James Walsh and I spent the last two years of high school doing projects together, making classes laugh, and getting teachers mad at us. We didn’t talk after we graduated and both went our separate ways… until last week. Oddly enough, I was in Dayton, Ohio, shooting a documentary on high school drumlines. We talked on the phone for like 30 seconds, just long enough to run through some of our inside jokes and make plans to hang out once I was back in California.
Last night he died. He got into an accident and his car flipped. When the police found his car, James wasn’t in it, so they assumed the driver had been intoxicated and fled the scene. When his parents arrived at crash site, it was they that found the body of their dead son in the brush, having been ejected from the vehicle on impact.
It’s so crazy. He’s gone. Dead. I still have pieces of the projects we did together on my computer…
