Pirates

25 October 2005

Water lapped at the side of the boat
as we drifted down the river
The sound of metal clanging against porcelain
danced around the walls of the cavern
Little fireflies were flirting in the air
to the tune of an old man’s banjo
Both of us searched the darkness with the hope
that we’d be the first to find a hidden mouse

I felt her arm slide along my back
and wrap itself around me
The metal and the porcelain faded away
along with the banjo and the fireflies
I moved to put my arm around her as well
and along the way my hand traveled across her back
There was the texture of her shirt
and the bump of her bra strap

My hand found its place
at the soft spot above her waist
The light began to fade away
and suddenly a minute took a day
The sound of water falling filled our ears
and suddenly a day took a year

Then it came-
we were falling through the air
My lips found hers
and we kissed like we didn’t care

Chutes and Ladders

12 October 2005

We just wrapped production on The Winning Edge.  This was my first experience directing a project on 16mm…  it was a learning experience.  All the groups in our class section showed the footage that they’d taken, and I would venture to say that our project is definitely one of the best.  I’m happy with the way it turned out.

The feature film I worked on last summer is coming out on DVD November 29th.  It’s called Confession, so if you happen to see it as you’re browsing through Blockbuster, check it out.

The next couple of months looks interesting.  I’ll be enveloped in post-production on The Winning Edge, I’m shooting a documentary, and I plan on working as a Production Assistant or Grip on a few film shoots.

It’s interesting: I’ve noticed that as I continue to succeed in what I do–as I climb up the food chain, if you will–people who would never have given me the time of day are suddenly quite willing to do favors for me.

Lastly, Holly Brook’s EP is now available in the iTunes store.  Buy it or die.
